Real, Genuine Moments
I love capturing real moments and emotions, no matter what I’m photographing, which is why I very genuinely enjoy photographing weddings. Weddings are almost an embarrassment of riches when it comes to opportunities to snap photos of people openly (or sometimes even discreetly) displaying a whole range of emotions throughout the day. And if you’re ready, practiced, and even a little lucky you can really capture some powerful images at weddings.
This applies to the wedding portraits, as well. It’s easy to mistake these as strictly posed moments, but even in formal portraits the best moment of the day can flash by in an instant: an unprompted look, a smirk, a subtle or unconscious expression can pass by almost unnoticed. To me, though, those genuine moments, those little glimpses of unguarded expression, are what make great images. My style of shooting is to always be searching for those decisive moments and to make sure that I don’t miss them.
